5. How do I replace the Torx Screw for the Golden Gate ATR?
For replacement of a Torx screw in the torque screw mechanism of a Golden Gate ATR accessory, it is necessary to establish if it is a Mark 1 or Mark 2 Golden Gate ATR.This can be verified knowing that the Mark 2 version of the Golden Gate has a quick lock screw fitting to the clamp bridge. This allows the bridge to be closed (in the down position) by pushing down on the locking screw and turning it 90 degrees clockwise to lock. The Mark 1 Golden Gate has a threaded locking screw, which requires 4 or 5 complete clockwise rotations to lock the bridge closed. In addition, the Mark 2 Golden Gate has a "stay up" device, so when the bridge is open (standing up) a little ball bearing catch prevents the bridge from accidentally falling down to a closed position.
If it is a Mark 1 Golden Gate, then Specac can send the replacement parts of the torque screw assembly (including the Torx screw) for a customer to fit. (This is not a full bridge assembly). If it is a Mark 2 Golden Gate the torque screw knob assembly must be sent to Specac for replacement of the damaged Torx screw part.
